Masoud H. Nazari
Welcome
I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Wayne State University (WSU). Before joining WSU, I was an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). Currently, I chair the IEEE Smart Buildings, Loads, and Consumer Systems Architecture Subcommittee and serve on the Editorial Board of IEEE Technology Conferences. Additionally, I am a member of the Advisory Board for the Philippart/McGrail Center for Global Engineering Education.
I earned my Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University in 2012. Following this, I was a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology from 2013 to 2015. During my Ph.D., I was a visiting student in the Engineering Systems Division at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2010.
My research focuses on the applications of stochastic hybrid systems, control theory, and machine learning in modern power systems. This includes modeling, operation, and resilience analysis, integration of distributed energy resources, and the modeling and operation of interdependent critical infrastructures.
Ph.D. Students Recruiting
I am looking for motivated Ph.D. students with strong foundations in power systems, machine learning, optimization, and/or control. The preference goes to students who already hold a master’s degree in ECE or a related field. If you are interested, please email your CV, Transcripts, TOEFL scores and two publications. The subject of the email should be “PhD application WSU – Semester you are applying”.
